Friends, Lovers, & Roses

"Vernon Clay magically weaves the lives and romances of gay African Americans together in his groundbreaking debut novel. A master of lyrical dialogue, Clay has created living, breathing characters who suffer through domestic violence, trustless relationships, the illness of friends, and being true to oneself."

HUDDLE

The Mist In Crest Hill County

From beginning to end, this book was intriguing. It sets up the characters so that you believe in them, you feel their love, pain, and fear as relatives, friends, and foes come back from the grave. It manages to evoke feelings that anyone can relate to. The pacing is fast, and the story is rich in emotion and detail, until the most suprising and heart-warming end.

THE MEETING ROOM

The Mist In Crest Hill County

A book that moves, thinks and breathes. It causes a person to reflect on their life, and the lives they touch. From the characters (Benny is my favorite), to the pace, it creates a world you can believe in.

He has written in many genres, and plans to explore more. His first novel Friends, Lovers, and Roses, was an African American work dealing with the LGBT community; and his second The Mist In Crest Hill County, focuses on dealing and overcoming loss, in a fictional town dealing with spirituality & death.

His lives in New York working on his next project (one with a focus on helping Authors-of Color to get the exposure they need).
